WHAT THE RESOLUTION ACCOMPLISHES:

The Resolution approves the Pine Island Corridor Vision and Action Plan.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

This is a request for Council approval of the SR-78 Pine Island Corridor Vision and Action Plan ('Vision Plan'). This Vision Plan will serve as a guide for transportation and land use related decisions over the next 50 years.

 

The preparation of this Vision Plan included a robust public engagement
process. Presentations were made to City officials, and community members had an opportunity to express their concerns and ideas through an online survey, an in-person workshop, and a virtual workshop. City, County, MPO, and FDOT staff provided feedback to guide the development of the final Vision Plan.

 

The Vision Plan utilized community input, technical research, as well as existing data collection to address these five main objectives:
• Enhance Safety for All
• Reduce Congestion
• Improve Multimodal Connectivity
• Expand Transit Access
• Enrich Corridor Character
