Resolution 292-23 Acceptance of Highway Traffic Safety Funds from the Florida Department of Transportation to fund Distracted Driving enforcement operations on an overtime basis; Department: Police; Award Value: $40,000; No match required

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS:

WHAT THE RESOLUTION ACCOMPLISHES:

The Resolution approves the Florida Department of Transportation sub-grant award in the amount of $40,000 for the Cape Coral Distracted Driving Enforcement and authorizes the City Manager and Chief of Police to execute all documents related to the grant award.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

Funding in the amount of $40,000 is provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

 

Funding is available upon the execution of the subgrant agreement to September 30, 2024.

 

Funds will be used to conduct high visibility enforcement distracted driving operations on an overtime basis.

 

No matching funds required.

 

The Police Department is requesting approval for the City Manager and the Chief of Police to execute the current and any future award documents during the funding period.

 

The subcontract agreement will be presented to the City Manager and the Chief of Police for signature.

Funding is provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Upon acceptance of the award, the Finance Department will set up Phase 2024 under Project Number G21075, specific to Division 21075 HVE Distracted Driving.
