Resolution 299-23 Accepting Hurricane Housing Recovery Program funding from Florida Housing Finance Corporation; Department: Development Services; Dollar Value: $6,676,929; (Local Housing Trust Fund)
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS:
WHAT THE RESOLUTION ACCOMPLISHES:
The Resolution accepts grant funds from the State of Florida, by and through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) for the Hurricane Housing Recovery Program, authorizes the City Manager or his designee to execute any and all documents related to this grant award, and authorizes the acceptance of all future monies specific to this Hurricane Housing Recovery Program.

| | | | | | | | SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
In the special legislative session held in December 2022, Florida Housing was appropriated $60 million in funding for the Hurricane Housing Recovery Program (HHRP) that will run through the State Housing Initiatives Program (SHIP). The funds were allocated to the 26 FEMA Individual Assistance eligible counties impacted by Hurricanes Ian and Nicole. The initial allocation to the City of Cape Coral is $6,676,929
Funding must be used in accordance with the City of Cape Coral SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan for disaster impacted households. Planned activities include emergency repair, construction and redevelopment, and extension of the insurance deductible recovery program.
